Governance Senior Officer – ***CLOSING FRIDAY 7TH FEBRUARY AT 23.59***

As Governance Senior Officer, you’ll use your corporate governance experience to develop and maintain the system of organisational governance through the effective running of internal and external (including Board and Audit and Risk Assurance) governance meetings.

The Housing Ombudsman Service provides independent, impartial and fair dispute resolution for nearly 5 million households in England. Through resolving disputes effectively and promoting positive change across the social housing sector, we improve residents’ lives and landlords’ services.

Specifically, as Governance Senior Officer, you will support the strategy and governance team manager in delivering the corporate governance, risk and assurance function, ensuring the team of executive and governance support officers deliver to organisational objectives.

Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will develop and maintain the system of organisational governance through the effective running of internal governance meetings. You will also provide the lead secretariat role to key non-executive and external governance meetings including Board and the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee building strong and effective relationships with senior stakeholders.

In addition, you will ensure the effective management and reporting of corporate activities including risk management, policy governance, functional standards compliance, business continuity planning and exercises and internal audit reporting.

Your significant track record within a corporate governance remit will include:

  • establishing and managing effective governance procedures including forward planning, agenda setting, minute taking and actions tracking;
  • risk management processes and reporting; and
  • managing highly confidential and sensitive information in a professional and restricted manner.

For this key role, you’ll be highly organised, with excellent written and oral communication skills, strong influencing skills – including at the most senior levels, and meticulous attention to detail.

It’s an exciting time to join us. Please download the Candidate Application Pack for further details.

CLOSING DATE:  23.59 on Friday 7th February 2025 (Amended).
