An independent, impartial body, the Housing Ombudsman Service was established to consider disputes between tenants and landlords across England’s entire social housing sector and some private landlords.
As our Management Accountant, your core remit will be the production of our management accounts; working closely with budget holders; in addition to ensuring Central Government returns are completed accurately in a timely manner.
As a smaller organisation (75 staff; £6.5m budget), you’ll have a pivotal role in the business working with senior management influencing business process and change. You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in key projects, such as a new systems implementation; gain exposure to accounting for income streams (from our Scheme members who manage 6.5million housing units); as well as staff management experience.
Equally important, we’re an organisation where our values are central to who we are and what we do – summed up by our mission “Housing Matters: Fairness Matters”. This fairness extends to ensuring our people benefit from a truly inclusive and supportive working environment, including a healthy work / life balance (35 hour week; flexitime; compressed hours; some working from home).
Key requirements include:
- Ideally fully qualified, but at least a part-qualified, CCAB accountant;
- A track record of successfully working in partnership with budget holders; and
- An understanding of central government financial reporting and control.
