Adjudicators (x 23)
An excellent and rewarding opportunity to use your knowledge of housing law and your casework expertise to play a vital role in resolving a wide range of disputes between landlords and tenants and to contribute your skills to making a difference for millions of households.
The Housing Ombudsman Service provides independent, impartial and fair dispute resolution services for nearly 5 million households in England. Through resolving disputes effectively and promoting positive change across the social housing sector, we improve residents’ lives and landlords’ services.
The Adjudicator role sits within the Dispute Resolution function which is responsible for conducting fair, impartial and independent investigations into complaints brought to the Ombudsman by residents. Using attention to detail, logical and an inquisitorial approach to investigating disputes, Adjudicators assess complex complaints to ensure that cases are thoroughly considered in line with casework quality standards, policy jurisdiction and dispute resolution principles.
With exceptional communication skills, Adjudicators communicate the outcome of decisions, orders and recommendations to all involved parties within an appropriate timescale, ensuring that work is of a high quality and meets our casework standards.
We’re looking for individuals with a balance of qualities. In addition to your expert knowledge of housing law, you’ll need the organisational skills to manage a varied caseload, a logical and an analytical approach. Your desire to help people find solutions will be matched by total impartiality and you’ll possess the tenacity and resilience to see each case through to a successful conclusion. You’ll be able to work autonomously, but nonetheless will be a supportive team player. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are key.
In addition to the salary offered, we also offer a range of other benefits including a commitment to a healthy work / life balance, including a 35 hour working week and flexitime.
It’s an exciting time to join us and to contribute your skills to the evolution of this ambitious, influential and growing organisation.
