Programme / Project Management Office (PMO) Manager

As our PMO Manager, you will play a pivotal role developing and maintaining project and change management standards, methodologies, and governance processes, and support organisation-wide capabilities to ensure the successful delivery of programmes, projects and key service improvement activities.

It’s an exciting opportunity for an experienced project management professional to shape the emerging and future priorities of our rapidly expanding organisation.

Specifically, as a member of the Corporate & Information Governance management team, and reporting to the Head of Service, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing the PMO delivery strategy and framework with organisational goals, ensuring projects contribute to overall objectives.
  • Overseeing and guiding the PMO line managed and ‘virtual’ teams, providing direction, support, and mentorship to PMO leads and wider service project managers and support teams.
  • Managing and prioritising the organisation’s programme / project / service improvement portfolio(s), aligning projects with business priorities and resource capacities.
  • Allocating and optimising resources, ensuring teams have the necessary tools and support to deliver activities on time, in scope and within budget.

For this newly created role, you’ll possess substantial experience of working in a public sector setting in a programme/project lead role, with a track record that evidences your success in implementing best practice and continuously improving methodologies.

You’ll be excellent at project planning and implementation and will be experienced in using a breadth of project management tools and techniques to ensure strategically important projects are delivered in line with milestones, timescales and budgets.

You’ll have strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to extract and document requirements from end users and translate business issues into development solutions.

In addition to the salary offered, we also offer a range of other benefits including a commitment to a healthy work / life balance, including a 35-hour working week.
