6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Opportunity to use your proven experience handling customer queries by telephone and email to help improve residents’ lives and landlords’ services.

The Housing Ombudsman Service provides independent, impartial and fair dispute resolution for nearly 5 million households in England. Through resolving disputes effectively and promoting positive change across the social housing sector, we improve residents’ lives and landlords’ services.

Enquiries and Contact Officers handle all incoming calls from residents and landlords to the Ombudsman Service and provide effective advice and support to ensure that residents are empowered to progress their complaint with their landlord, and that where appropriate they are referred to other agencies to provide additional support.

Utilising their excellent customer care and communication skills, the Enquiries and Contact Officers effectively scope complaints with residents, understand residents’ concerns and how cases are progressed to create high quality records before taking appropriate action.

Key requirements for this role include:

  • Significant experience handling a high volume of customer queries and contact by telephone and offering accurate and appropriate advice;
  • Experience of working to and delivering against set targets and KPI’s; and
  • Communicating confidently, clearly and fluently avoiding jargon or criticism.
  • Understanding of reasonable adjustments and implementing appropriate arrangements that meet the needs of service users.

An understanding of the role of an ombudsman and/or a regulatory environment will be helpful, as will an understanding of reasonable adjustments and implementing appropriate arrangements that meet the needs of service users.

It’s an exciting time to join us and to contribute your skills to the evolution of this ambitious, influential and growing organisation. For further details, please download the information pack.

CLOSING DATE:  midday on Saturday, 1st October 2022.

PLEASE NOTE: Following unprecedented interest in our vacancies, we reserve the right to bring forward the closing date (close it early). We therefore strongly recommend applying as soon as possible.
