Senior Communications and Engagement Officer

The Role

As a Senior Communications and Engagement Officer you will focused on leading media activities and digital channels

Lead on developing and delivering proactive media activities to raise the profile of the organisation and to support its strategic objectives.

Write engaging press releases and other material to promote the role and work of the Service.

Respond to media enquiries in a timely and effective way and produce media briefings/key lines on issues as needed.

Build and maintain relationships with relevant media contacts to strengthen coverage of the service.

Manage and develop the organisation’s digital channels and content to support the strategic objectives, including the website and social media channels.

Create integrated media/digital media campaigns to promote the organisation’s key messages and to support a range of projects across the service.

Monitor and review media/digital coverage, identifying opportunities for increased coverage and to enhance the organisation’s reputation.

Report on the impact of media and digital coverage.

The Successful Applicant

As Senior Communications and Engagement Officer you would have experience across various communication channels both on-line and off-line.

Key skills required.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, tailoring messages effectively across a variety of communications channels and different audiences

Good news sense and ability to effectively manage media interest within a complex environment

You would have previously worked within a broad communications role, including media relations

A strong track record in producing high quality, engaging content for press releases, web news stories and social media, and producing communication/media plans

You must be able to develop and implement successful communications/media campaigns

Have the ability in providing advice and guidance on media issues

Good knowledge of the needs of national, local/regional and trade media

Website management including content management systems and working with external contractors

Able to use social media platforms and analytics.

Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent.
