Finance Assistant

The Finance Assistant’s key responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to;

  • Support raising manual journals on accruals, prepayment and other balance sheet codes to ensure accurate capture of all financial activities.
  • Support monthly bank reconciliations, resolution and clearing of all differences, suspense entries, on a daily/weekly/monthly basis in order to maintain quality standards.
  • Support and assist in the annual external year-end audit and liaise appropriately with the external auditors and engage relevant stakeholders.
  • Support promoting and guiding financial governance to the wider stakeholders on the finance processes.
  • Supporting stakeholders on the relevant finance systems i.e. Oracle requisition and PO.
  • Ensure delivery of high volume, diverse and complex range of bookkeeping accounting activities to set deadlines.
  • Provides support and back-up to relevant colleagues across wide range of activities, particularly in ensuring effective financial probity.
  • Professional competencies as identified; compliance with statutory/departmental/HOS requirements; values of HOS; objective timescales as agreed.
  • Maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; ensure legal requirements compliance.
  • Utilise working knowledge and experience of using Oracle Fusion to support month end management account production.
  • Compiling the month end work – Production of timely and accurate monthly financial statements

The Successful Applicant

In order to be shortlisted for the role, you must demonstrate the below;

  • AAT qualified (or an equivalent accounting qualification).
  • Experience maintaining records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Proven experience of managing systems to account for financial transactions; defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.
  • Experience of balancing general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to use own initiative and taking action.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the team and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion or similar Accounting softwares.
